Fluoride Treatment
Topical fluoride is used and applied by a dental professional to prevent tooth decay. It comes in the form of gels, foams and varnish. Gels or foams are placed in trays and held against the teeth for up to 4 minutes while fluoride varnish is “painted” on teeth. Fluoride helps prevent the loss of minerals from the enamel and encourages strengthening in areas where cavities are just beginning to develop. This application should be repeated every 6 months.
